Default Bidding on order pages

Hi guys,

Do any of you bid on order pages on TV? Everytime I try this, I never get any traffic even though I'm the top bidder. I think what may be happening is that TV throttles the ads that they display. Since there are usually other people bidding on the main domain, one of these ads is shown when the user first goes to the site. Then a few clicks later when they are at the order page, my ad isn't shown because another ad was too recently shown. Not sure if TV does this, it is just a theory. Anyways do any of you get order page bidding to work with TV?

That's certainly my understanding of how TV works. If someone arrives at any other page than the order page, and there is a bid on the root domain, that gets popped first, and then that user won't see another popup for x number of page views, or possibly the rest of the day if they already saw their quota for the day.

Also, even if someone arrives directly at the order page, if someone else is bidding on the rootdomain (assuming the order page is one the same site) and is bidding higher than you, they will get the popup not you.

In other words, the only way you can get a popup to show on an order page, is if nobody else is bidding on the root domain, OR the visitor goes directly to the order page AND your bid is higher than the root domain bid.

Note that this is not from the horses mouth (trying to get any information from TV is like trying to get blood from a stone!) but is borne out from extensive testing of those different scenarios.

One other thing is the adware company may be keeping them for their own interests. So while you can bid on the order page, they just won't give you any traffic. (This happens a lot with all adware companies.)

Thanks for the info guys. Table32 - I have observed the same thing, highest price seems to win over most specific URL. As for what Coach says, that really sucks Oh well.

Just to follow up on this discussion of TV algorithms a bit, here's something else I'm trying to figure out.

If I enter in a URL which someone is already bidding 0.01 on, I will see my rank as 2. I used to think TV's algorithm was that whoever bid first would get #1, and the next to bid with the same price would be #2.

But then once I bid on the same URL in multiple campaigns. Campaign A was first, and bid 0.01, and got a rank of #1. Campaign B was second, bid 0.01, and got a rank of #2. But then I later went back to Campaign A, and noticed that the rank was now #2.

So now I am thinking that if multiple people bid the same amount, they will just distribute the page views amongst all the top bidders, and tell everyone they are #2 to encourage higher bidding.

I am not sure though, and some test results are inconsistent. Have any of you guys experienced this?
