Default CPV Lab Follow Along!

If any of you guys are thinking of getting CPV Lab, this will be the thread for you. I personally have not been using it, but I am about to start. What I am going to do here in this thread is document what I am doing and what I am learning along the way.

I am not going to make this a step by step guide, but rather more of a blog of things I learn along the way and how I am using it, etc. Feel free to ask questions along the way!

Default Getting CPV Lab installed

Today i am going to try and get CPVLab installed. Right out of the gate I have encountered my first challenge. Currently, I am using an IP address for my tracking (prosper202) server. However, it looks like CPV Lab will work best in a root domain, then in a subdomain. I want to create a subdomain, but first need to get a domain name applied to my account.

So that is what I am working on now.

Hey Denmaster,

I recently started using CPVlab and love it. One thing to consider before you go the subdomain route, is if you'll need an ssl cert, for instance WSM requires a secure tracking pixel. With a subdomain you'll need a wildcard ssl which is more expensive, $90/yr vs $10/yr for a cheap ssl, which is all you really need.

Just something to consider.

Looking forward to following along I'm sure I'll learn a lot.

Scott

Scott,

Thank you for this tip! I may have to re-evaluate this . . . maybe I will register a new domain name. Glad to hear CPVLab is working out for you

Does it matter what SSL certificate I get? Is something like this good enough? Anyone can chime in :-)

Ok, I went ahead and purchased a new domain name and an SSL certificate and am getting that set up.

Pretty sure that's the same one I've got and it's working fine for me.

Ok, Lab is installed. I went ahead and purchased a new domain name just for this script and put it on it's own IP address. I ran into a couple issues along the way, but they were resolved quickly (had to get ionCube Loader installed)

I have an SSL certificate purchased and am waiting on host to install.

I probably won't get around to creating any campaigns in here until tomorrow.

Trying to get to creating a campaign today, but not sure if I will be able to. As they say "putting out fires" so far this morning!
