Default How to decrease the loading time of your lander

Hey guys,

Ive been reading a lot about the importance of the loading time of the lander in PPV marketing. So I wanted to make an experiment regarding this topic. My goal was making my lander load faster.

Below I will describe a method what you can use to achieve faster lander loading time.

This method works on landers where the whole background is an image. (Sometimes you want to quickly make a lander which looks very similar to the target offer's page. Then you ctrl+print screen an you have it )

The tools I used:
- Gimp - free image manipulation software
- Notepad++ - nice text editor, free
- tools.pingdom.com - website loading tester

When I checked several of my landers on tools.pingdom.com I noticed that at 1st the .html loads then simultaneously(!) start loading the background images. So the idea was I should slice my background images to smaller sizes therefore the overall loading time will be the loading time of .html + slowest loading part of the background image.

This is the way how you can do it in Gimp:
1. open the complete background image; this will be sliced to smaller parts
2. Image -> Guide -> New Guides (by Percent) and set your horizontal guideline wherever you want
3. repeat the 2nd step as many times as you want in order to get smaller partial images (of the whole img)
4. Image -> Transform -> Guillotine

Now when you have the partial images use them in your lander's html code in the following way:
- insert the following code between the <body> and </body> tags :
Code:
	<table align="center" border="0" cellpadding="5" cellspacing="0" height="100%" width="10%">
	<tbody>
		<tr><td>
			<div align="center">
				<table id="Table_01" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" >
					<tbody>
						<tr><td><img style="border: 0px solid ;" alt="" src="bg_123-0-0.jpg" /></td></tr>
						<tr><td><img style="border: 0px solid ;" alt="" src="bg_123-0-1.jpg" /></td></tr>
						<tr><td><img style="border: 0px solid ;" alt="" src="bg_123-0-2.jpg" /></td></tr>
						<tr><td><img style="border: 0px solid ;" alt="" src="bg_123-0-3.jpg" /></td></tr>
						<tr><td><img style="border: 0px solid ;" alt="" src="bg_123-0-4.jpg" /></td></tr>
						<tr><td><a href="indexbtn2.php"><img style="border: 0px solid ;" alt="" src="bg_123-0-5.jpg" /></a></td></tr>
						<tr><td><img style="border: 0px solid ;" alt="" src="bg_123-0-6.jpg" /></td></tr>
						<tr><td><img style="border: 0px solid ; " alt="" src="bg_123-0-7.jpg" /></a></td></tr>
					</tbody>
				</table>
			</div>
		</td></tr>
	</tbody>
	</table>
This way when your lander loads the visitor won't notice any irregularity. It will look like as the background was a whole picture. But it loads faster.

When I tested them with tools.pingdom.com the old version (with a complete, whole background picture, 88kb size) loaded in 1.7sec. The new, sliced version page loaded only in 1 sec. The sum of the picture sizes was the same, I didn't change anything. Its not bad speed increase.

I hope this post will help you if you use this kind of lander.

Good luck!

Never really realized how much just splitting up an image could decrease load time... Thanks for the helpful tips.
