Question Alternative for photoshop

Hey guys, sorry re-posting this. I have a question more on the programing side than landing pages... I realized that I should have titled it different. I'm sure many of you thought it was regarding the "landing page" post below mine. Sorry!

If I am using a mac, what programs would you guys recommend that I use to edit and create my own landing pages? Like most newbies I'm on a budget and not looking to spend the money on adobe photoshop, so any recommendations that are cheap or free are much appreciated! Also, what programs would you guys recommend I use to make the "click here" portion of my landing page appear animated? I know unfreez works well on windows, but was wondering if there's something similar for macs. Thanks!

gimp.org is a good alt for photoshop. as far as buttons go, you can google "click here" buttons and make them work for you in gimp.

I also thing that Gimp is really the way to go... I've also seen people using Photo editor online - Pixlr.com edit image... For buttons I recommend checking out On line web button generators collection It costs money but I have found it to be worth the it's cost if you aren't good at designing buttons.

GIMP is going to be your best bet outside of Photoshop

gimp has a built-in button creation feature.
File->Create->Buttons...
Though I haven't used this feature so Im not sure this will do for you.

...gimp is free...
