Default Fake Referers and fake traffic with Media Traffic?

Hi everyone,

I've set up a campaign in MT promoting an auto insurance offer. I use keywords and url's, and I use prosper202 as my tracking software.

So far I've received no traffic from my keywords and 140 views from my url's. (only one actually)

The problem is that I'm bidding on insurance.com but I've traffic from:
http://www.usinsurance.com/auto-insu...e-company.aspx (page cannot be found) and:
Southside Insurance | Southside Insurance (park domain).

I have set up my target to: "url without query string"

My question is: how do you guys have traffic from the url's you are bidding on?

I must have miss something

Thank you for your help

Default Update

Hi,

I let this campaign running 1 day, I spend $10. Here is what I got from prosper202.

This traffic is divided like below:

url: insurance.com, progressive.com, geico.com, esurance.com, statefarm.com, 21st.com
keywords: cheap car insurance

And my referers are:

http://www.mercuryinsurance.com/WebQuote/startQuotedo (bidding on the domain but not this url)
ChoiceAutoInsurance.com | Insurance Quotes Free From Top Carriers (not bidding on)
shiversinsurance.com (not bidding on - park domain - I have a bunch of referer from this domain)
Southside Insurance | Southside Insurance (not bidding on - park domain - 95% of my traffic comes from this referer)
www.aisinsurance.com (not bidding on)
http://equotecarinsurance.com/quotes.php (not bidding on - 404 error)
Compare Car Insurance Quotes Instantly - Online Auto Insurance (not bidding on)
Cash Advance | Debt Consolidation | Insurance | Free Credit Report at Getahealthinsurance.com (not bidding on - park domain)
Car Insurance Comparison | Auto Insurance Quotes | Insurance.com (2 views - bidding on)
Carinsurance.com: Compare Car Insurance Quotes and Save (not bidding on)
http://www.usinsurance.com/auto-insu...e-company.aspx (not bidding on - The resource cannot be found.)
UNITED AUTO INSURANCE - ILLINOIS / INDIANA AUTO INSURANCE - CHICAGO AUTO INSURANCE - SR22 INSURANCE - CHICAGO MOTORCYCLE INSURANCE (not bidding on)
http://equotecarinsurance.com/quotes.php (not bidding on - 404 error)

So far: insurance.com: 499 views - 303 click through - 60.72% CTR??? - Leads 0

I know that the offer may not convert and that I need to buy datas, but I really do not understand why I have traffic from these url's.

I have created 4 campaign promoting different offer and it's exactly the same on each of them?

I will contact my AM (jimmy) but if any of you have any idea...

Any help would be greatly appreciate
Thanks

that's so weird. i haven't used mt in a while, but if you're doing url match, i would think they would give you URL match only! can you speak to your AM there and let us know what he says?

thanks,

- lucas

So Marco please share your experience what you will learn from your AM as i'm curious too.

Default 2nd Update

Hi everyone,

I send an email to my AM (jimmy) about this issue yesterday and I've had an answer today. That's pretty fast so thanks to him. Here is his reply:

"Hello Marc,

Yes, you have the target insurance.com, which is in southsideinsurance.com. If you wanted it to only pop on Insurance.com, you would have to put .insurance.com

Thank you"

This is crucial, if I want my ad to pop only on the url's I'm actually targeting, I need to put a "dot" before the domain name!!!

Were you aware of this setting?

I watch their video tutorial one more time and I did not see anything related to the "dot" I have to put before the url I want to target. So if I do not put this "dot" before I would have traffic from domain name that include my target url, in this particular case: insurance.com is in southsideinsurance.com. Wich is by the way a park domain that nobody is aware of???

I replied nicely to his email asking him how a user can load a page that is not indexed in either Google, Yahoo and Bing.

Because i did not mention in my previous post but I have checked these url's (not all but a few) and guess what, they are not even indexed in the major seach engine.

If I have well understood (please tell me if I'm wrong), my ad pop only if a user load a page I'm targeting (url) or if a user put a keyword I'm bidding on in the search bar of the major search engine.

Again, how a user can load a page that is not indexed while searching???

Thank you for your help

@qasy

I'm glad to see that you are 100% satisfied with their services. I'm sure you bid on a lot of url's. Please tell me how you would set your target if you would bid on "insurance.com" to get views with this exact match domain?

I may have misunderstood the target setting?

By the way I've had an answer from my AM, here is the message:

"Hello Marc,

Our system reads what is in the URL. Since you put insurance.com, anytime a target has that term in the URL, it will pop.

Thank you"

It doesn't really help me to understand how a user can load a url that isn't indexed though.

Thanks

@ PapaBear

That's not weird, we are talking about fake traffic and fake referers, they are in the cost per view business and the more view I have the more money they make period. Thanks MT.

Here is the last message from my AM

"Hello Marc,

If you only want target from root domain, but the ( . ) in the URL and use the precision match: URL without query string

Thank you"

I will try again to work with MT, I will put the (.) before the domain. I hope this time I will receive real traffic.

no, you didnt misunderstand, just missed an important point:
when you have target insurance.com url, you are targeting a string what appears within the url.
So for the insurance.com target you will target abcinsurance.com, xyzinsurance.com (and even insurance. commmm - if it existed). If you want to target _only_ Car Insurance Comparison | Auto Insurance Quotes | Insurance.com, you really need taht dot before insurance word to make sure you rule out additional urls.
And one more thing: lets stay with the xyzinsurance.com. Say your long tail keuword target is "ins x ce.com", when a visitor goes to xyzinsurance.com site, you keyword "ins x ce.com" will trigger your ad.
Get the point?

Thank you for your help qasy.

I get the point, it cost me a hundred bucks to learn this. I still think that they should tell about it in their video tutorials, I'm pretty sure that a lot of us have been misleading. I hope this thread will help others to better understand how to target the right url's.

Thanks
