Angry Getting frustrated with MT

Hey guys,

I got started with PPV a couple of months ago through PPV Formula and have been mostly using MT mainly promoting NeverBlue offers - dating, biz opps, email submits, car insurance, Bidz, shopping gift cards, acai, business cards, colon cleanse, ... you name it.

My AM, Basil, is pretty good answering my questions about what verticals work and sometimes even what offers work, if you push him a bit.

Still, so far I made about $150 and spent about $1200, so something is clearly not working. So far I've gone with about 150-200 URLs (domains) for each campaign and on some occasions 50 - 100 keywords. I've seen some conversions here and there (and usually know which domains convert) but no consistent winners.

I'm all for PPV - nice and easy to get going and should work like a charm once you figure it out but I'm clearly missing some key ingredients or just haven't tested / diversified offers enough.

Will the MT experts please stand up.

Cheers,
Andrei

Some people would say you're using way, way too many urls to start and you need to narrow it down and track. Are you tracking? That way you can see what URLs don't convert.

As a general rule I've noticed that keywords are harder to convert on MT than domains. I think its because often keywords are set to 'search engine' and I find that burns up a lot of impressions but gets few conversions.

The other thing is to try lots of different niches. I've found some areas work well with MT and others not at all. Same with offers. Some offers work well on TV, AON and Zango but not MT.

The other thing is to cut your losers fast. For me that's usually when I've spent half the payout on page views and haven't had a conversion. You can let it go higher and get a lower ROI but I find that means I have to watch it too closely as EPV often declines over time.

Are you with Traffic Vance? I generally test all my offers on them first and then once I have a converting offer and targets, I branch out to the others.

Thanks guys.

I am tracking at a keyword level and split testing offers. Though practically all of my offers with NB so the offers would be in the same niche but some might've been too different to lump in the same rotation - I've had BBW (Big Beautiful Women) and Interracial Singles in the same rotation with some conversions for each. I'm trying to join more networks but that takes some time.

The point about cutting losers makes total sense and I've been doing something similar (though without a clear cut max per url / keyword). This raises the question of how many urls you'd test per offer before you dump it?

I mean, taking a simple example of 50 urls, 2 cents per view, and $10 payout per offer, with 50% of the payout ($5) spending cap per keyword, we're looking at spending at least $250, which seems like a lot for a single offer assuming that about 1 in 10 will be a winner.

One other question - if I'm tracking each keyword, shouldn't it be all the same in terms of testing 10 or 100 urls at a time?
It seems to me that if you test more at the same time you spend the same budget but find winners faster.

I'm not with Traffic Vance. MT and AO only for now but will try to join Zango and TV in the next few days. The instructions in the TV section look promising, I just need to folllow through. Wish there were similar instructions for Zango as they ask for a company which I don't have yet.

Again, thanks everybody for answering my questions.

As far as a "Company" goes, just put your name.

===================================

Coach has examples of Topic and URL's.

He say's start small, use 5 networks
3 URL's and just 2 kw's each URL.

Then watch for a winner.

When one pulls out ahead, put it in the rotator
4 times and put another URL in for Once (4:1 Ratio).

This should save money and time since all you
have to do is just keep adding more Test URLs
while you look for more winners.

What is a "winner"?

If you spend $10 you make $20 and you
net $10 consistently.

You will be making money from the
winners to pay for the losers!

I think that's the theory

Random, like I said, you are just thinking about way too many URLs at this point, methinks.

Jim: Good point. Didn't think of that and went ahead with the applications last week. Got a few questions from TV, replied today and waiting to see what happens. No real answr from Zango yet and I keep getting their voicemail when I call.

jocko: Agree on smaller batches - easier to test.

Got accepted at CX and Revenue Loop last week ... going to roll out some offers from them on MT and AO while I'm waiting approval from TV and Zango.

Default No luck either

I've also had little luck using MediaTraffic. I feel that my campaigns have been very targeted to the offer but I've only had one conversion.

I've probably spent $200 and only made $50. I'm not giving up on PPV but I think I'll have to try out another network.

Has anyone had success with TrafficVance???
