Default Follow Along With Us - Southwest Email Submit Campaign

Per the request of Brian, we are going to show you how we would promote this offer from start to finish on CPV. The offer is from Flux and it is an email submit for 2 free Southwest tickets.

Here is the URL: http://track.prize-confirmation.com/...xx&s=CD1&se=01

I am going to try and promote this via direct linking.

So the first thing I am going to do is to place the offer link into our Preview Popper to see what it looks like.

Here is a screenshot of the result:

This one looks great, it fits into the window nicely and the email submit is clearly visible. So I do like this offer as it looks very friendly to convert.

In the next post we will go about finding the targets.

Ok, the next step in this series will be to figure out some targets. I am going to go with the obvious ones first and target some big name airlines (including southwest.com).

So, I head on over the Google Scraper tool and enter in "airlines" as my keyword, and select 3 pages deep, and USA as the country. This is what it looks like:

After I click Get Targets I then select both checkboxes and send to a download file. Here are my results. I will use these as the first round of targets for this offer:

Next I added the offer to my installation of P202 and pulled a link for a direct link to the offer using Traffic Vance as my traffic source. The link looks like this:

http://www.mydomain.com/tracking202/...=12569&t202kw=

To properly format it for tracking on Traffic Vance, we want to add the keyword variable which is: %%$KEYWORD%%

So my final URL looks like http://www.mydomain.com/tracking202/redirect/dl.php?t202id=12569&t202kw=%%$KEYWORD%%

Now we will be able to track each url individually to see if it is a winner or loser.

I'm with you so far Sean,

as regards %%$KEYWORD%%

I am of the understanding that I don't need this for media traffic ... it will automatically pick up -- Am I ok on that Sean?

regards,

Brian

Yes, with media traffic make sure you check the target_passthrough option and it should send the keyword automatically.

Default Creating the campaign in Traffic Vance

Ok, now we are ready to actually create the campaign. Step one is to name your campaign, here I named it Southwest Tickets and I set the daily spending limit to $10 to start.

  • Next, you need to create a Creative Name, this is the equivalent of an adgroup so you can keep your targets separated if needed. Since all of my targets thus far are airline sites, I chose to name mine 'airline sites'.
  • Then choose an Industry (don't think this really matters, but it is required).
  • Enter in your tracking URL with the variable appended on the end.
  • leave your creative budget at UNLIMITED unless you had a bunch of creatives and wanted to limit each.
  • set your Individual User Cap- in this one I chose 1 week because I don't want the same people seeing this over and over.
  • Agree to terms and conditions

After that click Continue and you are ready to insert your targets. Simply copy and paste your targets into this area and continue

Now that the targets are entered, you will be able to see the highest bids and the rankings for each target. Since this is an email submit, I am going to leave all bids at .01 to start. There isn't much room with an email submit to make profit so that is why.

Some targets will be insanely priced! chepoair.com has a high bid of .135 and there are 69 people bidding on it! There must be something to this target that converts. So I would make a mental note of this and research this further for other possible marketing opportunities

Then scroll to the bottom and click on Finish and Fund

Now your creative is waiting approval!

Default A Classic Mistake!

Ok, yesterday I got my ad approved and it started running. I was getting a few clicks, but noticed it was not showing up at the network. What could be wrong? DUH, I messed up the tracking link!

That is the first lesson in marketing 101, ALWAYS CHECK YOUR LINKS! Well, I didn't. Good thing it only cost me $.32

Ok, so I fixed the link and had to wait for it to be approved again, which it was and now it is running. After one day I am profitable!

Spend: $.64
Revenue: $1.30
Net: $.66
ROI: 103%

Now, in all honesty, these numbers don't really mean much as there is so little data at this point. But, I can now say that the offer does convert and that gives me confidence to move forward.

The next step in this process is to review where the conversion came from and to check if there were any targets to kill. Well, there can't really be any to kill just by the fact we haven't spent enough in the entire campaign to equal the offer payout.

So, when I look at my targets I notice that the one with the conversion only had 2 views. So, I paid .02 for that one conversion Again, these numbers are quite ridiculous since they are so low, but i wanted to share all. I am hesitant to share the actual winners of this campaign because I fear people will simply go and copy them, compete on the bids, and then it is profitable for no one. Thoughts?

Ok, so now today I am going in and adjusting my bids. What I am going to do at this point is bid the top spot for any target that is under .02 to try and get some traffic to it. Hopefully we will gain some more data at that point.

The next thing I do when looking at the bids is to determine if the urls are high traffic or not (by looking at the green bar). If they are low trafffic, but have a higher bid than .02, I might up my bid on those too.

I will also then look at the high traffic urls and enter in a bid that will hopefully get me some traffic, but not break the bank. For example, I am bidding on expedia.com which has tons of traffic. The high bid there right now is .049. I set my bid to .031 which brings me into 13th place instead of 39th place at .01 on that target. I already feel that is too high to be profitable with an email submit, but I will test it out anyways and see what happens.
