Default Yahoo Adready anybody?

Anyone doing media buys on Adready? I just opened an account and am still negotiating with the sales guy on the creatives and campaign settings. It's my first experience with media buying, so I'm super conservative, and it's going against their grain.

Any advice? I'm only going to push finance-related offers on here.

I've never heard of it but it looks really interesting. when dealing with them, what kind of budget are we talking about? hundreds? thousands? tens of thousands?

They aren't that forth-coming with the information, which is why I am taking my sweet time and casually asking lots of questions.

I found out that in order to have an account manager assigned to you, you have to do at least $2,500/month with them. Sounds like from that, there's no minimum spend. But the sales guy is trying to get me to spend at least $4K in the first two months.

I told him I'm going to test the creatives they did for me on Google's Content Network (image ads), because I don't want to run blind on untested creatives.

He wants me to run on Run of Network. I said I want to limit the categories.

He wants me to bid $6 CPM with a target $3 CPC and a $67/day spend each on two networks (Yahoo Network and Right Media). I want to get the bottom of their inventory and start small ($0.25 CPM). But he's saying that with such a small bid amount, I will get untargeted traffic, yet his RON strategy isn't targeted at all. There's no RON per category. It's the entire network, whether Yahoo Partner, Yahoo Network, or Right Media.

I asked for affiliate success stories on Adready. He had none to give me. All of his success stories revolved around brand advertisers with deep pockets -- he ran their campaigns on RON. In his defense, he said he has worked with affiliates, although he couldn't be specific with industry, CPM, CPC, etc.

He says not to expect to profit in the first 6 weeks.

There's no real-time reporting. It's actually one day behind.

With all of that, there's no incentive for me to get started any time soon. Rather, I'm going to test image ads on Adwords and PPV.

Anybody else have any experience with them?

Right Media's traffic sucks big time. I've blown thousands a day there and don't use them anymore. It sounds like your am has only dealt with advertisers not after an ROI but brand awareness.

Anyway, I'm getting buys on Yahoo for $1.50 CPM. Delevery Even, ads above the fold and 1 per day per user.

I had to commit to a $5k spend, but I do have a 24 hour out clause if the traffic is shit.

Harry,

Where does it say you have to commit to a $5K spend? Is this on Adready?

Where did you learn about the particulars of media buying? I have a lot to learn even before I get started.

In order to get deals and a lower CPM you need a rep who understands your business, and you need to make a commitment in $$$ values so they can keep the tire kickers away.

As far as where I learnt it, I'm just picking things up myself and keeping my eyes peeled on forums for any info that might be of use.

But, there is little spoken of because the big hitters don't want the competition. No one will be too helpful or else it will end up saturated like google.
