Question Using free emails?

Aweber warns against using "Free" emails such as yahoo and aol but what about Google? There seem to be a lot of businesses using gmail now and my college just switched over to gmail also. So my point is do i need to setup a cheap host and domain just to run my email. For instance would "users" really be turned off if they get a fan club email from gmail and not superbob@iownafanclub.com?

I can see your own email looking more professional but with all these businesses switching to gmail im wondering if its a sign of the times and it just doesnt matter much anymore.

Would love to hear yalls opinions.
Thanks.

More or less you answered your own question: own email seems more pro...but...and thats _my_ opinion...if I had serious business never ever used free email.

i use gmail for business correspondance sometimes, but it never hurts to have a few emails set up on domains you own either.

Honestly, I think it would hurt you in the fact you will more likely be auto spammed... not so much that it would bother the recipient.
