Default Stupid Coders

I have been biting my tongue here for the past little while because anytime I get excited about finally giving you guys THE tool, the coder screws me over.

I've been waiting patiently for the latest one since Sept 29th now and she said it would take 10 days. I'm starting to get very annoyed because she keeps giving me lip service and it's frustrating me. I can't tell her off because I want the damn program and I've already paid the first deposit.

I hope this isn't a "lesson learned" deal again.

Why are coders so unreliable lately?

(just venting...)

Some of them give unrealistic time frames because they want the job I think.

I had a coder tell me they could do it in 2 days, it ended up taking them 2 weeks and then they were upset that I only gave them a 9 star rating instead of a 10...

That's too bad. I'd tell her off for sure though when she finally shoots the program to you. I hate unprofessional people.

I generated over $1.5K in sales for this software company since 6/2008 - all free traffic. My commission is a measly $200! I bugged them about paying me - kept giving me "lip service". I finally just emailed them and CCd my lawyer and told them straight up to pay me or we're going to have problems.

LOL. He paid me soon after.

I've had similar experiences on eLance. Even though they provide steps to curtail this problem, it can still be a hassle. I usually just keep contacting them until they give me some solid answers. Once the project is done I always thank them for their work and send them a copy of the review I'll be posting explaining my displeasure at their lack of urgency with my deadlines. They could be the poet laureate of coding, but if they can't finish my project when I need it, it doesn't mean much to me.

Last message...

" We will have it to you late on Friday...."

This woman has told me i'd have it in my hands about 4 times now. I didn't even go with the lowest bidder for this one. Dammit.

As a developer myself, I wouldn't even consider doing a project for the price ranges that people seem to work for on places like eLance. It can really only work for programmers living in 3rd world countries (and good for them, I say), or people who slap shit together in their spare time. It sounds kind of like you got stuck with the second type.

Sad part is she's in Florida and says she has a company that does these things all the time. Oh and no word from her again, she's now super late and I'd love to tell her to go kick some rocks, but I'm an idiot and put $200 down on this. Another wasted attempt I think.
