Default Self-targeting

for a direct linking campaign, self target, let's say I promote the offer dating.com and I bid on the url dating.com.

- Does that work? I mean is it allowed, are people doing it with success? (please don't discuss ethics)
- How does it work. I mean, if the user is on dating.com and my pop over pops up, and he decides to sign up on my pop over, then i get the commission. if he closes my pop over, then I lose, right?

You get some, you lose some. If you get enough conversions... it's profitable.

Some will work this way. Testing will find those for you.

if you're self targeting and it's a pop over, you can try to steal it if that's what floats your boat. If the merchants catches you doing that, you're going to lose all your commissions. IF it's a popunder, you can offer something to compliment the site someone just bought.
