Default PPC style Question

Hi!

I found a great offer and in Google I found ppc advertisements promoting that offer.
I'd like to bid on those urls , if they do not belong to the merchant.
How can I find out if they belong to the merchant?
Is this method safe?

It can be difficult to know what domains a merchant owns, because so many affiliates grab domains that look very similar to the merchants or have the merchants name as part of their affiliate domain name.

I typically click the merchant's offer url and find out what domain the merchant has. As a personal habit, I make sure not to advertise on the merchant's direct domain.

As for the other domains that I'm certain are affiliate domains, I may place those as targets in my campaigns. I haven't encountered any problems yet.

If you really want to know the merchant's domains, you could do a whois on the domains you gathered and see if the merchant owns those. For larger campaigns, this can take a lot of time, and personally, I don't think checking domains to this degree is worth the time invested.

Or you could ask your AM for a list of all the domains the merchant owns, so as to not advertise on those. I've never done that, but if you wanted to be very cautious, this is one way to go.
