Default Keeping track of 100's of campaigns

This is one thing that is really not an easy task. I have a system I use for this, but was wondering how you guys are keeping track of all your campaigns as far as when they started, your thoughts on them, which keywords worked, which didn't etc.

(not just tracking performance, but tracking what is where...)

SO let's discuss...

No, it's not an easy task trying to keep track of everything. That's a huge reason why I've not run so many ppv campaigns the past two months. But now that this membership has opened up, I'm back in the game

I don't yet have a way to keep track of what offers/urls don't work other than making notes on my bulk upload files and comments on my php scripts. All of my destination urls redir thru my server so I can rotate, swtich, redirect at my command . I even have traffic going to different offers depending on the url being passed thru. This gives me more control and lets me sleep better at nights knowing that every single one of my bids are under control.

I pre-pend campaigns by date so I know when they started. If I add more keywords to a campaign, I will add a new tab to my kw spreadsheet and date it so I know when I've added more keywords and why, in the event I want to know. I also note what kw I deactivate and why. The WHYs are very important to me, as they remind me of my thought process and whether or not that was the right thing to do.

I don't have a proposal for organization. What I've implemented recently is working for me. I trust my memory to keep track of offers that tank; however, I need to start putting this stuff in a spreadsheet asap.

Thanks for bringing this up, Coach. We need to talk about this for sure.

I'm with Eve on this. Keeping track of everything has definitely stopped me from throwing up a heap of offers and I've only really got back into PPV in the last month or so. I keep a text file for each campaign and write in it which keywords I deactivated, when and for which network but its messy. I add the date to campaign names too and keep a copy of all keywords I upload, where they were uploaded to and when but again it feels messy. I'd love to have one central place for all this info.

How do you do it? Do you use an excel spreadsheet?

I've been testing a beta version of the tracker with notes and todos and rules attached.

It's pretty sweet.

I can write notes/comments right in the tracker, set up todos for the future and set up rules for each campaign/keyword/url. It's helping me tremendously in keeping track of all the campaigns. I am going to add it to the tracker because having the data is one thing but being able to attach your notes is another...

Just wondering what kind of other features besides those above you guys would add?

That sounds excellent! I love the idea of having everything in the one place, so much easier to keep track.

I haven't uploaded any data yet as I haven't got the latest version of the tracker but is there a way to mark a keyword as having been paused? Up until now I've been using pivot tables in excel to reconcile my costs and conversions and I find that I get confused about which keywords I deactivated because they obviously show up in the stats still.

The other thing that I'v noticed and I haven't added that many offers yet, is that it would be good if the offers could be organised into groups, ie dating offers, insurance offers etc and then we could choose from a group (or country) to see what we already have in that group and then when it comes to setting up a rotation choose a group first then offer second when adding to the rotation package. Cause if it stays one list its going to get very long and confusing.

It would also be good to be able to mark an offer as paused if a network turns it off. I probably wouldn't want to delete it because oftentimes a network turns it back on again.

The other thing that would be good is if the tracker generated the rotation ID because once you have over 50 rotation packages and it goes to the next page then its going to get confusing. If we could somehow mark whether a rotation is active or not then you could do a sweeping glance at the list and know which ones you needed to pay attention to. The other nice to have would be a search function on the offers page and rotations page so you can find a particular offer/rotation quickly.

Maybe this feature is already in the tracker and I haven't figured it out yet. If so, please tell me how to do it.

My request would be to add the ability to look up the tracker-added subid code and find the offer it was appended to?

And the opposite, look up each offer and find which subid codes were appended.

(This would also help me with the PPC Tracker, so I can determine what has happened in the first 30-50 clicks for a new test camp.)

I love having everything in the one place also, all these accounts, domains get's a little too much. I keep all my tracking on one domain, one server.

I have folders and spreadsheets to keep track of monthly activities.

So I have a spreadsheet I update daily for tracking at a campaign level, I also have another spreadsheet attached tracking at a adgroup/keyword level. Then I have my tracking tool to keep track of profitable accounts.

Spreadsheet for Accounting
Tracking on a sever for campaign level.

I have been setting this up forawhile and had some Trouble. But I use Gauher Chaudhrys spreadsheet on PPC Formula, I have just alterd it and changed it into a PPV / PPC spreadsheets.

I am very organised hehe

- So yes, USE EXCEL!

All the Best,
Phil
