Default Joining CPA networks

I've read that it can be a little tricky getting accepted by CPA networks but I don't see any tips here about joining the recommended networks.

Is there anything I should say or shouldn't say when joining?

Should I have a website to show them or just say "I do PPV and don't have or need a website"?

Any advice in this area would be appreciated as it's the simplest things that usually cause me the most grief

In the application tell them you are an experienced Affiliate Marketer of several years and you drive traffic through a variety of sources, including SEO's mini-sites, PPC, and Contextual. Maybe even that you have plans of expanding to legit email traffic too. Show some initiative in your app.

Then, the next day call them and speak with someone cause it can take weeks for them to get around to approving you. If you sound like you know what you're talking about (throw out a lot "terms" like PPV, ROI, Contextual, PPC, EPC, etc.). You'll be fine.

If you don't have a website go by one on ebay for $5, or hell use one of mine stopsforeclosure.net or someone else's landing page with a private WhoIs. This one is just a WP blog with a bunch of content and banners. You can make one similar in a few hours.

Hey Bobby, kewl name btw

What drhowe and.....

Something to be aware of:

I noticed that I got a few AM(s) asking me what exactly do I classify as contextual.

To be safe, I never mention the traffic source or say popus. I just say you know this links that are double underlined on blogs and you move your mouse over them and a little window appears of the actual website; that's contextual. They're usually fine with it. If I say I do email, they want to know how big my list is and is it double opt-in.

I am not lying about the contextual thing, I'm just not saying full on pop-up windows appears. Traffic Vance has both popups and text links.
Also what if I want to use that network for ppc traffic, I don't want to blow my chances.

Good Luck, you're in a good place here!

Bobby

Now that is good info as I'm sure I would have blurted out "PPV" and/or "popup windows" without thinking when I called them.

Is saying "Zango" or "Media Traffic" a bad idea? As a general rule of thumb I mean?

I think it depends on the network really. If the network is cool with contextual/PPV they probably won't ask any questions in this respect.

If the network doesn't like contextual or just they hate popups, then they'll probably grill you. In these cases, I try to be as vague as possible and play dumb.
I say things like "uhmn I dunno who our provider for contextual is, we have so many, I'd have to look into it and get back to you. I know we use Google, Yahoo and MSN for PPC." I have never been asked who our provider is though.

As soon as you mention PPC the conversation is usually over and your application is "usually" approved. For some reason quite a few networks like hearing "We use PPC/Search as our main source of traffic."

Even if they reject you don't worry about it. I've been rejected numerous times and re-applied 2 weeks later and got accepted instantly. LOL
Some keep rejecting me

There's hundreds of networks to choose from.

Personally I don't like giving away my traffic source to anyone. I think there are shady providers and shady networks, and shady merchants and we're stuck in the middle. I think it can sometimes be 1 giant orgy.
Your keywords, and traffic sources are your assets; I'd protect my assets as much as possible!

Thanks for all the info guys.

I applied to the 5 networks in "Step 2" of "Getting Started. So far I've only heard from Copeac (but I was approved by them at least). I know I could (maybe even should) call the other 4 but I'm not in that big of a hurry. I'm still trying to "get the big picture" before I start spending.

Speaking of spending, Traffic Vance is asking me for a $1,000 deposit instead of the $500 deposit I was expecting. I did post about this in the Traffic Vance thread but I'm not sure how many eyeballs that thread gets so I'm "spamming" this thread (don't shoot me!) to get an eyeball or two to that thread

Well, I'm batting .666 so far. Accepted by Neverblue and Copeac and rejected by affiliate.com (their loss, not mine).
