Default Inspiring Words...

I just read a review of the movie, The Social Network, about the founding of Facebook. In the review, one of the characters starts to say to the guy who founded it (forget his name), "If I would have invented Facebook..." and founder-man shoots back, "If you would have invented Facebook, YOU WOULD HAVE INVENTED FACEBOOK!" They interviewed a guy who was working with him at the time and said that was exactly his attitude.

I feel like putting that quote up on my wall. Damn, it made me want to get up off my ass.

I know exactly how you feel. I have my lazy moments too....... Plus as a newbie I've been get frustrated, discouraged and sidetracked every time I hit a technical hurdle, which is quite often..... It happened about 10 times today and I've been pulling my hair out all day long. Today was the day I set up my CPV Lab tracker and started loading up landing pages..... Nevertheless, I figured everything out and it's not as bad as it seemed when I was having the problems.

The more and more I do this (CPV stuff) the more I realize that it really does need to be treated as a business. It's a habit that I'm still learning and getting better at every day. Inspiration from other sources is great, but in the end you really have to ask yourself how bad you want it, and how far are you willing to go to achieve your goals. I struggle with this every day, but as the days progress I'm making this more and more of a priority and spending less time on other things that either interfere with my work or get in the way of me making progress. I've basically gone into total seclusion, which sucks because even as a law student I'm used to having a VERY active social life (I go to school in Miami)...... Just one example: I even went so far as to cut off communications with a girlfriend last week because she was causing too much drama and messing with my head. Normally I can deal with this, but for some reason my productivity was severely hampered this time around....... Extreme? Hell yeah, but it's the only thing that will keep me on track, so I do it....... Try thinking of yourself as the CEO of a fortune 500 corporation (because you really are!). Someone in that position wouldn't "waste time" twiddling their thumbs think they should be working. They DO IT. From reading success stories it is clear the people who win at this game, and win big, treat it as a total obsession and live for it night and day. For me that means putting bad habits aside, and learning to be disciplined. I'm far from being where I need to be (mental state to succeed) but hopefully it clicks for me soon as I hope it does for you and everybody else.

The cool thing about devoting yourself to a goal is it makes clear the people, things and activities that are not supporting you, that are holding you back. Maybe that girl will learn how to deal with her issues without dragging you down, too, or maybe not. But either way she won't be dragging you down.
