Default First batch of campaigns finally up and running

After almost 2 days my LeadImpact campaigns were finally approved. I launched 11 zip submit offers and 3 variations of a credit report offer (so 14 campaigns total). For some reason the 6 campaigns I launched on Direct CPV were not approved even after I called in and asked them to push them through before the weekend! Grr...... I guess I just need to get used to these networks moving slow.....

My first lesson learned is not to use high traffic domains for certain offers (i.e. blackberry.com, apple.com). I blew through my $5 budget for those campaigns very quickly! No worries though, lesson learned...... I deactivated those keywords FAST!

Also I seem to have a problem with TRACKING! Can anybody help? The clicks are showing in Tracking 202, but I can't see which URL's are generating the leads. It shows 0 leads for each url, even though my Wolf Storm Media account is showing conversions. Here is one of my affiliate links: http://laziestlawstudent.com/trackin...d=4223&t202kw=

Is there supposed to be something at the end? I though we were supposed to leave it blank and select keyword pass through?

Argh, now I have a bunch of clicks but have no idea where my conversions are coming from.......

On a brighter note I have 3 campaigns that are profitable right now, with one of them having 3 conversions. And even though I don't know exactly which url's are responsible for my leads, by looking at my tracking 202 data and seeing which url's have clicks, I can kind of match my campaigns and url's, so it looks like after I take out some of the bad url's (high traffic), I didn't lose all that much money......

This is very motivating. I love it! Time to launch more campaigns and get them ready for next week.....

Wow what a long weekend....... I had to pause my campaigns from last night because my tracking wasn't working properly..... Despite that, I still had 2 campaigns that were break even or slightly profitable by the end of the weekend. I had 25, conversion spread out over 4 campaigns, and 22 of those came out from my 2 winners. So I am seeing results.......

Here is what I learned so far:

-I have landing pages creation DOWN! That's for uploading, designing, etc.... I guess it takes time to know what works best, but at least I got that technical hurdle out of the way.

-My tracking wasn't working because I didn't set up the tracking pixels with my affiliate network. Stupid oversight on my part!

-Spent all day setting up CPV Lab tracking. God this is such a powerful tracking option. Tracking "PROPERLY" is a bitch at first. Lots of little steps where one can get tripped up...... I have the whole process down now, including all of the html involved with landing page tracking setup. Thank god I have this out of the way!

-I needed to add SSL on my tracking domain and GoDaddy had some weird process. My tracking domain went dead overnight. Freaked me out for bit but I got it handled this morning.

-I burned through $130 this weekend because my tracking wasn't working properly....... Over $100 of that was from non-converting campaigns that I didn't cut because prosper 202 wasn't showing the clicks. Tracking is no joke!!!!!!!

Wow, so I can finally say that I think I have ALL of the technical stuff out of the way. Hopefully it's all down hill from here lol......

Default Landing Page Design

Diablo,

What are you using to design your landing pages? I have been trying to find a website builder that I can use with self-hosting, but no luck so far. I finally got a landing page from here uploaded via FTP.

Rich,

For the first week I was making things waaaaaaaaay too complicated. Just like you, I was looking for website making software, templates, etc..... I was going crazy, and finding nothing that made sense. Fast forward to today: I use PIXLR, you can download the tool bar for free (for firefox). It allows you to grab ANY image, or portion of a web page from any firefox browser window. After you import the image into the software (which is web based btw), you can edit it, ad text, etc...... It's like a mini photoshop that's easy to use.

Lately i've been using the neverblue email creatives, as they give you the html coding, and you can just paste it into dreamweaver, insert the links, and boom you're ready to go. For the sampaigns that allow email marketing they usually include 2-3 different banners, which is perfect...... Most of them look good and are ready to go with little to no editing! After all, they were designed to get people to the merchant's offer page......

Also you can just go to google images and google the name of the offer you're promoting, and you can usually find pictures/banners.

Aside from that it's super easy to use pixlr to make simple banner ads. Just find a catchy image on google that matches your offer, add some text, make a bright "click here" button, and boom you've got a landing page that's as good as anyone else's.

I'm leaving out a LOT, but that's the gist of it....... This is "my way" of doing things, but the results are the same as everyone else's. You don't really need any fancy tools, designers, etc. I can now have 2-3 landing pages up for a campaign in less than 5 minutes; and that's starting from SCRATCH, minutes after I pick the offer. No joke! And I swear to god I was a complete newb just a few days ago..... If you want to see it done step by step then hit me up on skype chat later (simo.chung) and i'll let you watch my screen as I launch some campaigns. After about 20-30 minutes you'll be good to go. I only wish I had someone show me this from the beginning........

Hey Simo,
Thanks for those super tips! My feedback for Mac user (Im one of 'em) is the capability of Mac to do quick screen capture. And you could edit the picture (cropping, resizing and adjusting brightness) thru its basic browsing window.

Another trick I do to manipulate picture is to use Powerpoint. Simply import the picture file you save or capture. From there, you could add text and all the other effects you want. And then save it as "jpeg" instead of ppt format.

I have been using Wordpress to most of my websites. For squeeze page challenges, there's a Squeeze Page plugin (paid - $97) that I have been using. And it's a sure time saver for me as well. You could add text, videos, opt-in, etc.

Resty

Btw, in case I didn't stress this enough, I love using niche and offer specific creatives! NeverBlue is good because their email creatives are almost the size we need, so it's easy to re-size them to 800x600. From there I just load it into PIXLR and add/change "click here" buttons, take out company logo's and url's if they're in there, and "make it my own." Even if you can't find the same offer, you can find a similar offer and still use the creative. So if you're promoting a cash advance offer, but you can't find the exact offer, then just find a similar offer and edit the creative.

Also you can scan for similar offers on offervault.com.

And branching off from another tip I read on here about how our landing page should look similar to the offer page; most offer pages have some type of image or design, so you can grab that portion (800x600) and edit out the other stuff and add "click here" buttons and whatnot.

By the way, can anybody suggest other CPA networks that have a large amount of offers that come with creatives?
