Default Direct CPV?

Anybody use these guys yet?

http://directcpv.com/index.php

Just heard of them recently, not sure if they're a new network or what...

Coach,

You just like them because they are calling it "CPV"?

I'd never heard of them before you mentioned them but decided to sign up and give them a try. They say that they have 10 million users worldwide (MT say they have 15 million and I read that Zango have 20 million) so not a bad size. Costs 0.01 per view and they offer a 30 day money back guarantee but I'm not sure how easy it would be to take them up on it.

They have contact info on their site for HQ which is in Costa Rica and another office in Vancouver but strangely no email address.

I've set up 1 campaign but paused it until I find out how to pass through the keywords.

I'll let you know how it goes.

- Jill

I'm also testing, no conversions so far.

I heard they're not great. I almost started a campaign about a week ago but it's now on the todo list instead. @espresso - the costa rican info turned me off as well but maybe it's for the best?

I got an email back from DirectCPV with info on how to pass through different variables. Here are the options:

Lexicon legend - CPV
{{vurl}} : viewed URL
{{random}} : random number
{{keyword}} : SE keyword
{{category}} : category
{{sid}} : affiliateId-said
{{afsid}} : affiliateId
{{afssid}} : said

Don't know what 'said' refers to. Anyone know?

I also asked about categories and here was the response:

I have removed all categories from your campaign since categories are very
broad and may not necessary convert as well as keywords or URL's. They don't have to be added in but sometimes they do get added in by the system. You can remove them yourself or contact us and we will do it for you.
They also sent emails telling me exactly which urls and kws were approved and that my landing page was approved. Took 2 days for approval which is kind of slow.

Jesus christ before I didn't know what you guys were talking about about categories getting added automatically but now it just happened to me. WTF?

Here's a mini-review of this place so far. On the negative side:

1. Interface absolutely sucks, makes it extremely easy to screw up campaign settings so be careful
2. Little traffic on targeted campaigns compared to the majors
3. They will automatically add categories to your campaign which will send you a lot of crap traffic. There is no notice that says this is happening, you have to go check to see if they added them.
4. They will automatically extend a line of credit, let you exceed your deposit, and re-bill your CC later. They do have a capping feature to let you avoid this so be sure to use it.
5. Bidding interval is $0.005
6. Overall kindof shady, Costa Rican HQ, misspellings and grammar errors all over their site

On the positive side:
7. They have some less common advanced bidding options like bid by position. I haven't tried this yet and not sure what happens if 2 people bid for position 1, but may be useful.
8. Their credit line feature could be beneficial if it works as described (haven't hit it yet but they're trying hard to make me with all these junk categories)
9. Account manager is very friendly and much more accessible than some of the major networks.

The combination of the negatives makes it very easy easy to shoot yourself in the foot, or I might even say get scammed when they add categories for you all on their own and then charge you for all that junk traffic.

Overall not that impressed and haven't had any conversions yet, but I'm still testing and getting accustomed to it. This might be a good place to get more traffic for your good campaigns once you've exhausted all the other options if you're willing to put up with this BS, but otherwise I wouldn't use them.

One more thing - kindof echoing what Jill said, I setup a campaign on 7/24, and as of 7/28 it is still not approved nor disapproved. You just can't run a business like that.

I have been emailing one of their reps and will pass on the things they need to improve on. Their responses have been very slow to any email I've sent so far. I'm not sure what to think yet of this network. I think it's a homegrown one. But I'll give it a test too.
