Smile Bidding position REASONS

So I get that bidding to position 1 is good for your campaigns, but have seen mixed reviews as to why. I saw somewhere that it said position #1 gets 70% of traffic and 30% goes to the rest. I read that, doesnt sound likely, but I'm no pro....

So basically I just want to know the advantages of bidding a higher position. Is it just for traffic volume? I mean is there an explanation of the algorithm used by PPV networks?

If your fine with getting your results slower and having your campaign profit less per day but profit you just the same overall as the other marketers......would it not matter what position your in?

Please clear this up for me.

Thanks

It's kinda like that but also dependent on other bidders frequency caps.

You're right about the position though...in a lot of cases being in a lower position will yield a higher ROI. Sometimes the bid for 1st place can be 10x higher than 2nd place.

Great, thanks for the feedback. So basically the reasoning is for traffic volume, not for traffic quality.......since you choose where your ad pops up, there's really no such thing as "quality," just that if you bid on this keyword your add will show up on this site.....ect ect

What about the traffic distribution is the 70% 30% thig pretty spot on? Thanks.

Yes for volume. However, sometimes bidding into 2nd, 3rd, etc. position is actually more profitable because your spend is less/ROI greater.

the 70/30 thing actually depends on the # of bidders on a target, and the exact traffic network.

I pretty much test everything. I've hit on some really profitable campaigns by testing campaigns that other affiliates wouldn't touch.
