Default Auto Insurance Tactic?

I came across this offer in Hydra for car insurance:

http://www.lynxtrack.com/afclick.php...22fczrt&p=&l=1

It pays $3 for state drop down only. I checked it through a proxy but once I selected a state it then took me to a page with Australian oriented adsense type ads. Not sure if that is all or if US based users see something else. I've taken out my affiliate ID from the link. Anyone want to test it and see?

Got me thinking, could it make money if it was just adsense?

I selected a state (in US here) and am attaching what the next page looks like.

Thanks Sean for posting that screen shot. I thought it might be something like that. So basically they have private deals with a select number of insurers (the ones listed on the first page) and then they direct them based on the state selected. Kind of like a review site with a slightly different spin on it. I guess you could do the same thing with the different sites that pull multiple quotes (Netquote, 2Insure4Less, Quote Wizard etc) as long as it didn't get too confusing for the punter.

Its actually pretty clever when you think about it. They pay $3+ to Hydra for every lead and let other people worry about the advertising costs, which if you were using Google and wanting to get on the first page would probably be around that anyway and the prospects are one step further qualified than if a punter just clicked on a PPC ad. And if, as Harry says, they scrub the crap out of the leads after the first day, they are reducing their costs even further (they are also drying up their traffic but if it doesn't convert on the backend then I guess they don't want it anyway).

I've been promoting car insurance offers for the past year on PPV and to be honest it seems to happen to all of them. They start out great and then conversions drop away and so I move onto the next offer. I've gradually refined my keywords down to the winners and the only thing that really changes is the offer. Its frustrating and that's why I've been thinking about other ways of promoting to car insurance punters. Not sure if this tactic is it and maybe I need to go the email sign up route but I haven't had much success with that to date.

PS My kids are watching me type this and really want me to use a smiley face

Nice spin on an insurance offer...I set up a private deal at wotogepa.com that converts pretty well and they don't scrub because the form is long enough that the merchant makes it's money all the time. It's currently paying $12 per lead and I use it myself.

Is it ok to run contextual for this offer -- is there a contextual link?

When I checked out this offer at Wotogepa (I believe it to be offer #234), I have is 11 screens of banners. No text or contextual links.

Would it be ok to make a lp with a banner dropped in and run it through contextual?

Thanks.

I've been running the same offer via Neverblue Ads (payout is $15). I don't know whether they are scrubbing it, guess they must as conversions have dropped away.

I'd be interested in trying the Wotogepa offer too and have the same question about a contextual link.
