UPDATE:

Ok, I've got some results, but they are not very good.

This test, does not say list building does not work. It works well.

There are 2 ways I was considering to build a list using PPV traffic.

1) Is to offer a free guide, send them good content, soft
sell them... build a relationship (takes longer)

2) the other is to hammer them with emails while they are
hot wanting more info and send them 1-2 offers per day for 7 -14 days.

I ran my campaign in Media Traffic.

Total # of impressions = 3501
Total spend = $53.09

The URL Targets were scraped from these keywords.
job employment sites
home office
paid survey
telecommuting
work at home

I split the traffic between two opt-in pages using a simple rotator script.

Lp2 seems to have been the winner.

Lp1 = 1371 displays. 11 submissions. .08% conversion
Lp2 = 1420 displays. 23 submissions. 1.7% conversions

1% conversion rate on the opt-ins.

Total number of aweber subscribers = 25

Aweber display #'s seem to be a bit differnet from media traffics
total # of impressions. But I'm not hung up on why.

I did not see any converstions from any of the emails or from
the redirect to the main primary offer after they opted in.

My email offers were a mix of credit card required biz opp offers and
lead gen offers that did not require any cc.

My stats from my CPA network:

71 clicks
0 conversions

My conclusion from my poor resluts.

It could be my opt-in page was not converting.

It could be that Mediatraffic may not have been a good match for biz opp offers.

It could be the target urls.

Just hard to say excatly.

I've read from 2 top traffic guys, who I trust, because they test
a whole lot more stuff than I do, have said that it takes on average
about 500 clicks before you will get a conversion.

I've spent $53 and got 71 clicks and no conversions.

To get 500 clicks would cost me an arm and a leg.

I believe the biz opp niche may not have been
a good match for this vomba traffic source.

I do have the vomba software on my PC so I can get
the Mediatraffic pop ups so I can see competitors ads,
and you know what i found out...?

When I did type in several of the job employment sites,
I did NOT see any vomba pop ups related to biz opp show up.

That should have been a red flag right there.

This list building strategy may have went better in the dating niche,
considering the traffic source (Media traffic).

I remember seeing Kris Trujilo, MassPPVtraffic, stats when he built
a list in the dating niche using media traffic.

He split tested 2 opt in pages using a rotator script.

Impressions - 45,300
9,179 subscribers
20% optin rate
Promoted date offer ($3.00/lead)
12,000 url targets
Ad cost - $711
Gross profit - $4,473
Net profit - $3,762

He did all that in 24 hours.

To believe it or not? Who is to say.

Taking into consideration his results, the dating niche
and media traffic may seem to be a good match.

Back to biz opp....

I've created 2 completely new opt-in pages to split test.
I've got some new targets to go after.
I will try media traffic once again and leadimpact this time.

And I'll post those results here sometime soon.

If you have any questions just post them here.

If you have any actual results related to building a list, please do share them.

The more you give the more you will get back.

Talk soon,

Xfactor

xfactor....
do not mean to get all into your business but is there a way to take a quick look at your landing page/opt in page.....

I am about to start list building and was wondering what people were using..

hi xfactor - just wondering what ever happened to this list building trial.

also, you mentioned at the start that you use Single Optin - wont Aweber ban you if you continue to use this? I know its a catch22 situation as from what i've heard you get much more subscribers if you use Single optin - but i'm always wary of getting my aweber account shut down later and losing my data.

what do you guys think?

@ seanchai,

If you are worried about Aweber banning you then just backup your list. No matter what that is your list. Don't hit your list too hard and they will not ban you anyway.

Plus if Aweber have the option for single opin then you are allowed to use it!!

Just my 2 cents

I'm new to PPV so forgive me if this is a dumb question...

But how does the traffic source affect the type of offer?

Other than shear size of user base, I don't see why Lead Impact traffic would be different than Media Traffic when promoting a BizOpp offer.

Different demographics of people download different toolbars (hence the traffic from each network will vary on conversion % from the network).

Thanks denmaster!

Is there a list of that somewhere?

Example:
Lead Impact is good for ABC,XYZ
Media Traffic is good for This, That, The other

.... Us newbies would find lists like that VERY helpful.
