Default Profitabilty Question?

So a quick question for you guys...

Say if I have a campaign that is converting on a few keywords or targets...

But I have around 100+ targets associated to the listing or campaign.

I guess what I am getting at here is that... When do you cut your low volume targets? If I have a campaign that converts on a few targets should I kill the lower traffic ones that end up eating my profit?

I guess it all depends on your budget but some of these targets could take a month or more to test because of the volume they generate.

So in the short term they effectively eat up my revenue generated by my converting targets.

Any suggestions? I want to make money now but I also understand that patience is a virtue. What do you guys do?

all depends on your style, but personally if i've taken the time to research a campaign, i want to give that research a fair shot. i always let me keywords run to at least payout. the only time that's not the case is if i'm taking a glance and notice that the keyword is TOTALLY unrelated and obviously a dud. you never know what keywords are going to convert until you at least give them a chance to

I agree, it is very much a 'feel' thing without a steadfast rule. Sometimes I just kill them if they are getting a couple views/week, but other times I keep them. It just depends on how the campaign is going and my patience that day :-)

It depends on my goal for the campaign.

If I put in the research and I loaded it with targets I'd love to see them actually tested properly.

However sometimes I'll notice a campaign with like 1-2 converting profitable targets that are bringing in a decent profit - but getting killed by the other targets like you said.

A lot of the time I'll take all of those low volume keywords and stick them into a new campaign. Then I'd turn on like 10 of them at a time and let them run their course.

Move the profitable ones into the main campaign and kill the ones that pass payout without a conversion.

Wait, how do you actually know which urls are getting the conversions? I use landers so I base it off of the urls that give me click thrus. But I don't know how to see exactly which urls are getting the conversion. Is this actually possible? How does the prosper actually know which urls converted? My stats just show me the click thru. They don't say if the person actually filled out the offer.

Are you using a pixel?

Even with a landing page - Prosper should show you which URLs converted based on the pixel and the subid.

What network are you on? Are you passing the keyword to Prosper properly?

Yea I can always see which url im getting traffic from. But I don't know which of them are converting. I usually just log into my network to see if I got any conversions. But I don't have enough profiting campaigns at this point to get serious about URL conversions.

No, I don't think I'm using a pixel. I just grab an offer, add it to prosper, set up the link and go. How do I add the pixel to the conversion page?

Are you using a simple or advanced landing page in prosper? When you get the landing page code, there is javascript to put in the lander and there is code to put on the click for the offer. This way it will track how many people visited your landing page and how many people clicked on the offer. Then if it converts, you will get the subid from the network and update prosper with the converting subid and it will show you the url/kwd that converted.

yea I use the advanced LP with the php script. I do all of that stuff. The only thing I haven't done is update prosper with the converting subids. I'll start doing that when AdOn decides to actually send a conversion...
